Scholarly attention toward Chinese legal classics and their translations has notably increased due to initiatives like “introduce the Chinese culture abroad” and “tell China’s stories well”. The knowledge base of a research field is closely linked to the body of literature within that domain. Despite this interest, few articles have employed visual measurement tools to analyze research literature on translating legal classics comprehensively. To bridge this gap, this chapter uses Cite Space version 5.6 R5 as a research tool and extracts data from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), encompassing journals, doctoral and master’s theses, conferences, and newspapers. The analysis aims to delve into several facets, including yearly publication volumes, primary authors, issuing institutions, highly cited literature, keyword co-occurrences, keyword time zones, keyword time zones, keyword clusters, and burst terms. By providing a comprehensive and objective overview, this study endeavors to accurately portray the fundamental characteristics, research trends, frontiers, and key themes in legal classics research in China from 1983 to 2021. The objective is to offer valuable insights and references to support future research endeavors centered on translating Chinese legal classics.
