Wireless Vibration Sensors Are Reliable Tools for Online Monitoring of Rotary Equipment in Inaccessible and High Ambient Temperature Zones. Two Case Studies
摘要
In core industries like steel plant, blowers operate in high ambient temperature zones and at times are inaccessible during machine operation due to safety aspects. These machines and blowers are real challenges to the condition monitoring engineers for vibration recording. Apart from high temperature, these blowers are also subjected to corrosive dust and moisture. Installing remote vibration sensor for these equipment in such hostile and inaccessible zones is the lone solution. General view of condition monitoring engineers is that in such hostile environment, no wireless sensors will function with reliability. A challenge was taken to try out wireless sensors first in an inaccessible zone with high temperature and on its success in a similar area and in addition subjected to dust and moisture. In this paper with two case studies, it has been shown that in both cases the wireless sensors have performed with reliability and till date generating valuable online data.
