Being Inclusive with Neurodiverse Workforce—Applications of ICT in Training
摘要
A growing area of research focuses on the experiences and contributions of neurodiverse individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum, within educational and workplace settings. This study brings together insights from various studies to highlight the essential aspects of integrating neurodiversity into organizations. In today’s global landscape, diversity and inclusion are top priorities for companies worldwide. Neurodiverse individuals make up more than 5% of the employable population, yet a truly inclusive workforce requires the hiring, training, and integration of this group into mainstream roles. Research shows that workplace accommodations, like providing quiet areas, clear written instructions, and noise-canceling headphones, can help neurodiverse employees manage sensory challenges effectively. Such tailored support has been shown to improve job satisfaction, performance, and employee retention. This review lays the groundwork for future research by identifying common challenges and opportunities in existing studies, using bibliometric analysis as well. It underscores the need for continuous research and practical application to advance neurodiversity inclusion meaningfully. With the right support, organizations can harness the unique innovations and insights that neurodiverse employees offer. The study also presents best practices that industries around the world can adopt, suggesting that technology-based training may be a key step toward creating truly inclusive workplaces.
