In recent years, membrane technology has gained immense importance in the chemical industry, addressing various applications since the 1960s. It is a promising and competitive alternative to the commercially available and conventional gas absorption technologies. Nowadays, numerous plants are using this technique to separate gases. The membrane process has been applied for liquid treatment for many years, using reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration. In recent years, membranes have also been applied to natural gas processing. Therefore, membrane technology can be easily adapted to upgrade biogas. The membrane-based biogas upgrade method is an efficient and easy-to-scale-up technology among all the upgrading technologies.

摘要
