Pressure Swing Adsorption
摘要
The application of adsorption technology was practiced as early as two millennia ago. Although the development of adsorption has been slow, gradually, it has become a well-established technique integral to various physical, biological, and chemical processes. Adsorption is a state-of-the-art technology with a broad spectrum of applications in the industry, from water treatment, air separation, separation, and purification of gaseous mixtures to hydrocarbon separation for synthesizing petrochemical and organic compounds. Adsorption is a mass transfer process in which an adsorbent solid contains a large surface area per unit mass and micropores. The gaseous molecules adhere to these micropores in the process of adsorption. The gaseous component that is adsorbed is known as the adsorbate, and the microporous solid packed into a column is the adsorbent.
