This paper takes Brick-concrete structure rural residential building (BC-RRB) and Light steel fabricated residential building (LS-RRB) in Shimen Village, Lin’an District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, which have the same building area, spatial layout, building facade style and similar family structure and energy use characteristics, as examples to compare and analyze their carbon emissions in the whole buildings’ life cycle. The analysis results show that compared with BC-RRB, LS-RRB has better carbon emission reduction effect in all stages of building life cycle, and the lifecycle carbon emission of LS-RRB is 44.61% lower than that of BC-RRB. It indicates that the LS-RRB is a kind of green low-carbon structure suitable for promotion in rural areas.
