The Art of Problem-Based Learning in the Context of Education in the Health Professions
摘要
Problem-based learning (PBL) has emerged as a transformative approach in healthcare education, addressing the limitations of traditional teacher-led methods. PBL centers on real-world scenarios to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning among students. Key principles of PBL include authenticity, active learning, patient-centeredness, and differentiation, all of which align with the evolving needs of healthcare professionals. PBL encourages learners to actively engage with content, collaborate with peers, and tailor their learning experiences to individual needs. Techniques such as student-centered learning, integration of basic and clinical sciences, and reflection underpin the effectiveness of PBL. The PBL process involves identifying and analyzing problems, formulating learning plans, acquiring knowledge, and engaging in reflection. These steps equip students with practical skills and metacognitive abilities crucial for addressing complex clinical challenges. While PBL enhances critical thinking, collaboration, and lifelong learning, its implementation poses challenges, such as time investment, learner frustration, and the need for effective facilitation and teamwork. Overcoming these barriers requires careful planning, resource selection, and support from facilitators. PBL bridges the gap between theory and practice, ensuring that healthcare professionals are prepared to meet contemporary and future demands in patient care.
