This chapter explores the attitudes and practices essential for professional health science students, highlighting the interplay of ethical principles, professional identity, and behavioural standards. Core elements of medical professionalism include respect for patient autonomy, dignity, and cultural diversity; compassion; integrity; lifelong learning; and effective teamwork. These principles foster trust, accountability, and excellence in care. Unwanted practices, such as cheating, plagiarism, poor punctuality, and inappropriate attire, erode professional values and compromise patient safety. Conversely, desired behaviours like punctuality, integrity, empathy, and effective communication form the bedrock of a professional identity. A strong professional identity, influenced by Islamic ethics, emphasizes the sanctity of life, beneficence, and nonmaleficence, guiding ethical decision-making in clinical dilemmas.Students are encouraged to cultivate professional attitudes through self-reflection, mentorship, and community engagement. Emphasizing the importance of patient-centred care, this chapter underscores the need for a holistic approach that integrates technical competence with ethical and social responsibilities. By embodying these values, future healthcare professionals can ensure high-quality, equitable care while addressing the challenges of a dynamic healthcare environment.
