This chapter explores the role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supporting families with young children (birth to six years) with disabilities in South Korea, Taiwan, and Turkey. The focus on NGOs in early childhood intervention (ECI) is relevant because NGOs serve as resource centres, and they advocate for empowering families who have children with disabilities. The chapter has two parts: (1) an introduction to the ECI system in South Korea, Taiwan, and Turkey, providing contextual information on ECI cultural/societal perceptions of disability, provision of services, eligibility, service delivery, and parents’ roles. Part 2 identifies NGOs as a mechanism for family empowerment. The chapter concludes with implications for policy, practice, and research.
