The study examines how social media usage influences the authority of traditional religious leaders among university students. Using a quantitative approach and simple linear regression analysis, the results show that the level of social media usage significantly affects the authority of religious leaders among the students. This is because social media platforms provide easy access to religious views and teachings, as well as platforms for discussion, critique, and interpretation that can alter perceptions of religious authority. The findings suggest that social media facilitates religious dialogue, increases engagement, and presents challenges to traditional authority. Understanding these impacts can help evaluate the social and religious implications of this phenomenon in the given context.1 The study concludes that the coefficient of determination is large (6.519 > 1.973) and the significance value is less than 0.05 (0.001 ≤ 0.05), indicating a significant influence of social media usage on the authority of traditional religious leaders among the students.
