This article presents one of the initiatives developed within the framework of an innovation and teaching improvement project at the University of Salamanca, aimed at encouraging young people’s interest in engineering studies. It is a case study of open educational resources hosted on a website, which includes a course-based programme, showing the potential of engineering to transform the world towards sustainable development and helping to disseminate UNESCO’s second engineering report. Designed by a teaching team from the Higher Polytechnic School of Zamora, the course comprises 18 training modules and 17 follow-up questionnaires, illustrating how engineering contributes to achieving each of the SDGs. The analysis of the proposal is based on the perception of engineering students regarding the material generated, as determined by a satisfaction survey designed for evaluation. The survey results reveal high levels of satisfaction, highlighting the material’s effectiveness. This initiative aims to break the stereotypes and historical and cultural patterns that have traditionally linked technology with profitability and masculinity, promoting an idea of progress associated with social advancement and sustainability.
