This study looks into how Large Language Models (LLMs) can serve as AI-powered teaching aids in software engineering education, particularly in project-based learning settings. We present three particular examples showing how LLMs, when combined with tools like GitHub, can streamline and enhance the teaching and learning process. These examples cover automatic project feedback through real-time student progress tracking, the use of AI for code review and improvements, and merging LLMs with existing platforms for streamlined code review. These scenarios highlight how LLMs can lighten the teacher’s burden and offer customized support and valuable feedback to students, thus enriching their learning experience. Rather than replacing teachers, these applications show how LLMs can empower them to concentrate on providing high-level guidance and creating more interactive, personalized, and effective student learning experiences.
