Implementation of Sustainable Infrastructure: Case Study in Surabaya City
摘要
This research examines the implementation of sustainable infrastructure in Surabaya, Indonesia, within the context of global urbanization and the need for development that considers economic, social, and environmental aspects. Using literature review methods and secondary literature studies, this research analyzes data from the Surabaya Regional Development Planning Agency, the Central Bureau of Statistics, and other official sources. The main focus of the research is on indicators, implementation, and various types of sustainable infrastructure in Surabaya, as well as the achievement of basic infrastructure in Indonesia in generals. The results show Surabaya's strong commitment to developing sustainable infrastructure, with varying levels of implementation across different sectors. Water management and waste management demonstrate significant progress, while renewable energy and green buildings are still in the early stages of implementation. The research also reveals an improvement in the condition of national roads in Indonesia, indicating progress in basic infrastructure. In the context of the manufacturing sector, which is important for sustainable infrastructure, the research finds challenges in the form of a slight decrease in the sector's proportion of GDP, although its added value has increased. Another identified challenge is the decline in the proportion of the workforce in the manufacturing sector, indicating the need for skill enhancement and policies that promote “green jobs”. This research concludes that although there is progress in the implementation of sustainable infrastructure in Surabaya and Indonesia, sustained efforts are still needed to improve implementation, especially in aspects of renewable energy and green buildings. Additionally, strategies are required to address challenges in the manufacturing sector to achieve a higher level of sustainability in infrastructure development.
