Heritage Buildings – An Engineering Approach
摘要
The preservation and continued use of heritage buildings is both sustainable and environmentally responsible. The preservation is an important act of culture that helps in safeguarding, recognizing and continuing cultural and historic traditions. Finding the potential for future development of heritage structures is an important task of contemporary construction. Interventions on heritage structures are generally very specific projects requiring unique and adapted solutions. The building must be physically surveyed, findings made, and recommendations formulated from the perspective of both preservation architect and structural engineer. The paper aims to present the engineering approach in the projects for preservation of heritage buildings. The peculiarity of the structure of heritage buildings, with their complex history, very often require the organization of specific studies and analysis. The various aspects of approaches in the structural projects for heritage buildings have been examined and analyzed. Contemporary methods for assessment and design of interventions on heritage buildings are presented. Special attention is paid to the preservation from seismic impacts. The problems discussed in the paper are illustrated with various real examples from the practice.
