Online to Offline Recycling—An Analysis of Recycling Waste in an Internet-Integrated World

As the escalated destructive impacts of climate change become more and more apparent year after year, people are comprehending the significance of preserving their planet more than ever before. Businesses and manufacturers are moving towards sustainable practices and playing their part in preserving the environment. An important part of sustainability is waste recycling. Treatment of industrial and domestic waste is a major challenge for businesses and authorities. Due to the major need for recycling, this research is based on online to offline recycling (O2O). The impact of online to offline recycling is studied on the customer’s perception and their choice to pick the Internet as a medium to recycle their electronic waste. This choice is termed customer choice (CC), and its influence is studied on constructs such as Better Inspection Facilities (BIF), Fast Pick Services (FPS), Fast Money Transfer (FMT) and Fast Product Return Services (FPRS) and relations between the constructs. The data for the research was collected from two hundred and twenty-one organizations in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. Regression analysis was used for statistical inference through the Smart PLS. Substantial results are found between BIF and FPS and between BIF and FMT. The study’s results also confirmed that a weak significant value was found between CC and FPRS.
