In this chapter, we start with an introduction to the general procedures of Data Science. Then, we will present two main approaches in Data Science: supervised learning and unsupervised learning. Next, we will give three case studies, which will be used in later chapters to show how basic mathematical and statistical knowledge can be applied in Data Science-related algorithms and reveal the principles behind these algorithms. Finally, we will present a classification of the types of data.
