A 58-year-old diabetic man with HbA1c of 6.8% on Metformin and Glimepride and normal renal function (Creatinine = 1.1 mg/dl) is operated for an ischiorectal abscess. Postoperatively he received Inj Ceftriaxone 1.0 g q12 hourly and Inj diclofenac 50 mg q 8 hourly. BSLs were monitored every 4 hours (values between 180 and 200 mg/dl). Six hours postoperatively, he was found to have passed only 50 ml of urine on one occasion since the operation. His BP was 100/60 mm of Hg, pulse—108/minute, and he had no other symptoms. He was shifted to the ICU for oliguria.
