Histogram Shifting Steganography for Audio and Video Implementation

Histogram Shifting Steganography is a technique for embedding secret data into digital media such as audio and video files, ensuring minimal distortion and high perceptual quality. It uses histograms, representing pixel or sample value distributions, to create space for hidden data by shifting certain values. This reversible method exploits signal redundancy, achieving secure data embedding without significantly altering the carrier file. The paper details the implementation of histogram shifting for audio and video. In audio, sample amplitude manipulation is employed, while in video, pixel intensity adjustments in specific frames are utilized. Performance metrics, including payload capacity, imperceptibility, and robustness against detection, are analyzed. Experimental results demonstrate that the method ensures undetectable, recoverable embedded data with high security and fidelity. Additionally, a comparative analysis highlights its advantages over existing techniques in efficiency and resilience to steganalysis. This approach supports secure communication applications, safeguarding data confidentiality, and integrity during transmission.
