It was found that more policies are formulated in many countries to include critical thinking skills in the curriculum. At a practical level, teachers around the world are encouraged to integrate critical thinking skills as it is considered a twenty-first–century skill as well as to make language learning deeper and more meaningful. The role of organizations in developing effective strategic training for educators was emphasized.

摘要

This chapter aims to examine the approaches and trends in developing critical thinking skills in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching. We begin by defining the concept of CT thinking skills and their importance in language learning and teaching. The review then explores the various approaches to developing critical thinking skills in EFL teaching, such as task-based instruction, project-based learning, and critical thinking activities. Additionally, the paper summarizes the trends in EFL teaching about developing critical thinking skills, including the use of technology, learner-centered instruction, and cultural sensitivity The benefits of developing CT thinking skills in EFL teaching and recommendations for teachers and researchers interested in further exploring this area are provided. Research has indicated peripheral integration of CT skills in language teaching particularly in EFL.
