Cryptology consists of cryptography and cryptanalysis, which, in a broad aspect, deals with the design and breaking of cryptographic algorithms. Cryptanalysis is one of the essential topics in the domain of cryptology. A newly proposed design is widely accepted and standardized only after many cryptographers analyze the security of the proposed design and provide some supporting evidence that the design is secure. In this work, I provide a brief discussion on several symmetric ciphers and their cryptanalysis as presented in the literature.

摘要
