Literature Review
摘要
This chapter reviews existing literature on the image construction of ASEAN in Chinese mainstream media, focusing on relevant theoretical and empirical studies. It begins with an overview of China-ASEAN studies, highlighting key themes in bilateral relations and media coverage. The chapter then examines the role of mainstream media in political image construction, discussing framing strategies and media influence on public perception. Furthermore, it explores the relationship between media and the construction of both national and international images, emphasizing how narratives shape geopolitical identities. The discussion extends to the broader role of media in constructing international images, analyzing mechanisms and case studies. Finally, the chapter provides a research review, summarizing key findings and identifying gaps that this study aims to address.
