Dyslexia is a learning disability characterized by difficulties with accurate and fluent word recognition and poor spelling and decoding. Many dyslexic children struggle to read and spell with traditional learning methods, which leaves them feeling lost and frustrated. This study shows the process of developing a multi–sensory interactive device called SPELLPHONE, especially for kids who are dyslexic and the impact it will have on their learning journey. The interface of SPELLPHONE focuses on enhancing phonological and character recognition skills through playful and engaging activities. SPELLPHONE identifies the unique needs and preferences of dyslexic learners and promotes game–based learning which drastically transforms the current traditional learning journey. SPELLPHONE gives audio–visual feedback to every letter and consecutively the word spelt on the interface. The research is conducted keeping in mind the user centered UX approach. The target users are preschoolers in the age group of 3–8 years, as early intervention in dyslexia is important. The research methodology includes ground interviews, literature review, ethnographic research, competitive analysis of existing solutions and user testing. The future scope of product is SPELLPHONE has potential to go beyond dyslexia, with future including wider user base, expanded features for diverse learning needs, integration with education systems, and continuous improvement through research and development.
