The current scenario of record keeping in the healthcare industry is showing a higher trend in its interventions with technologies. This being the case has opened up the window to understand these digital trends and innovations. In recent years, India’s out of pocket expenditure on healthcare services has significantly gone up. One of the many reasons for this high expenditure circles back to managing health records and having adequate access to health data, which is the focal point of this research paper. Consistency in record keeping would allow consistency in healthcare. To better validate this, factors like income expenditure and nature and frequency of healthcare visits are investigated. With India’s digital interventions going up by leaps and bounds, the market is constantly growing with newer products. It has been identified that here is a significant lack in highlighting the importance of keeping and accessing this healthcare data. The aim of this paper is to dive into the challenges that come in the way of these records not being as adequately managed. This research paper also delves into understanding these gaps and looks at them with the added lens of understanding human psychology and motivations that drive the decision making while proposing design solutions through means of service design and design thinking. The methodologies outlined include a twofold survey, emphasizing on the need of both qualitative and quantitative data for establishing the need and validating the pain points. A lack of sensitivity toward maintaining the data which had been identified as a challenge in this busy generation. The scope of the findings lean toward building a human centric and empathy driven outcome in order to assist people better understand the need and have more control of their data.
