Inclusion of craft education in basic education to foster holistic development of the child has existed since seventeenth century. Some of the aspects of this traditional domain find its relevance in the goals of 21st Century Skills, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and NEP 2020. As a result, this study investigates the relevance of learning crafts in mainstream school education. Studies highlighting such aspects of craft education that overlap with SDGs and 21st Century education requirements are reviewed in this paper. It collates the findings from these studies to present aspects of 21st Century Skills, SDGs and NEP 2020 that can be achieved through craft education in basic education. The role of Indian design fraternity in enabling goals of 21st Century Skills, SDGs and resultantly, NEP 2020 are further remarked. The purpose of this research is to motivate further investigations that explore other aspects of such a proposal.
