This research investigates the cognitive load experienced by parents raising autistic children. Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) profoundly affects a child's social communication, behaviour, and daily functioning. Primary research was conducted at “Grow up Special Child Centre, Ahmedabad,” involving field research and cognitive task analysis. The study revealed that parents of autistic children face numerous challenges in comprehending and meeting their child's unique needs, leading to frustration and isolation. To address this issue, we designed and evaluated an innovative mobile application, “Puzzle,” aimed at reducing cognitive load for parents of autistic children. The app is a comprehensive platform connecting parents, children, and doctors, offering guidance and support for treating autism. It educates parents about ASD, provides practical tips for managing behaviours, facilitates effective communication techniques, and fosters skill development tailored to each child's strengths and weaknesses. By fostering a sense of community and emotional support, “Puzzle” improves the quality of life for autistic families. Widespread adoption of this technology has the potential to impact the well-being of families with autistic children positively.
