This study investigates the design considerations for a multiple genre 360° set in the context of parallel interactive narratives in virtual reality. This study applies screen production enquiry as a practice-based research method to demonstrate the concept of parallel interactive narratives in virtual reality through a creative artefact, Table for Two. This experience experiments with multiple genres such as romance, supernatural fiction, and drama for diversity of story living. The set of Table for Two is a café that hosts different conversations across tables. A navigator has the freedom to teleport from one genre to another, as each narrative unfolds simultaneously irrespective of where the navigator is located. This study reveals the design considerations towards integrating all the film material into the 360° set, multiple 360° cameras placements and height, character blocking and movement and morphing the set as per the genre. Through convenient sampling, a group of 20 navigators validated their interest in the narrative experience. This research opens up alternative ways for storytelling design and storyliving experiences inside the 360° virtual reality set.

摘要
