Immersive Analytics for Sustainable and Resilient Building Operations: Leveraging Immersive Space to Think (IST)
摘要
In the pursuit of sustainable and resilient building operations, integrating immersive analytics shows promise. This approach utilizes virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) to enhance sensemaking, revealing cognitive processes in the “space to think.” This paper introduces a novel conceptual framework that combines immersive analytics with Immersive Space To Think (IST) methodologies, leveraging advanced Holotable technology. The framework creates an immersive interface for facility managers and building owners to simulate scenarios, particularly focusing on energy consumption and carbon footprint reduction. Real-time data from IoT sensors embedded in building infrastructure enables visualization of impacts such as thermostat settings, lighting levels, and renewable energy integration. This approach fosters collaboration among stakeholders by providing a shared virtual space for interactive visualization and scenario exploration. By facilitating collective assessment of energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, and occupant comfort within the IST, stakeholders can make informed decisions. This transformative approach enhances building management by optimizing energy use in smart buildings, supported by immersive analytics and IST environments, promising improvements in sustainability, resilience, and occupant satisfaction across commercial and residential sectors.
