Alcohol consumption is a multifaceted behavior often driven by the desire for social interaction or as a coping mechanism for stress, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. This dependency can escalate into over-consumption, culminating in a spectrum of adverse outcomes for the individual. This paper delves into the motivations behind consumption, and the reasons that lead to alcohol addiction. Employing a design-led methodology, we evaluated the effectiveness of various interventions, including support groups, in-patient facilities, digital tools, and medical treatments. Additionally, we investigated the causes of relapse through interviews with healthcare professionals and individuals with current or past alcohol dependence. Our research identified critical intervention points and shared triggers and gratifications associated with recovery efforts, informing the development of four distinct intervention concepts: Gamification, Digital Companion, Sobriety Buddy, and Social Network. These were refined through user feedback in an open forum. We propose a digital platform aimed at younger drinkers, facilitating one-on-one connections between individuals seeking assistance and those who have recovered. Initial testing indicated resistance to the direct connectivity feature, leading to its evolution into a community platform offering various engagement options. Despite the positive reception, the high relapse rates in alcohol use disorder present challenges for implementation. This paper presents a novel digital intervention designed to foster behavioral change and support recovery, highlighting the importance of accessible and non-intimidating resources in the treatment of alcoholism.

摘要
