Advancing Mobility Through Adaptive Clothing for Paraplegics: A Study on Human-Centric Design Solutions
摘要
This research focuses on using human-centered designs to design appropriate clothing for persons with paraplegia, which improves their mobility and social interactions due to some barriers caused by the clothes. This research incorporates paraplegic individuals in designing the garments so that the final products meet the user’s functional requirements regarding mobility, self-image, and increased daily utility. Data collected from prototype trials revealed enhanced mobility, dressing and comfort that can benefit the wearers’ independence and quality of life. It shows the need for functional clothes while encouraging the fashion industry to design for many sizes and body shapes.
