Design ideation is a critical phase in the creative process, aimed at generating and refining innovative solutions to address complex design challenges. This study investigates the relationship between cognitive processes—such as attention, memory, perception, and problem-solving—and their influence on design ideation. Drawing upon interdisciplinary perspectives from cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and design theory, the research adopts a mixed-method approach, incorporating qualitative analysis of design practices alongside quantitative cognitive assessments. Through a combination of observational studies and experimental manipulations, the research examines the role of cognitive mechanisms in shaping effective ideation processes. Additionally, it considers the impact of external factors, such as environmental stimuli, social interactions, and cultural contexts, on designers’ creative thinking and problem-solving strategies. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of design cognition, providing valuable insights for advancing creativity and innovation in both design education and professional practice.
