Pochampally Tourist Centre, in Telangana, India, is a heart of cultural and textile traditions, crafts, and vernacular architecture. Yet, even in the face of a groundbreaking win, the centre has struggled to fully interpret its cultural heritage and engage the local community. This paper explores the sustainable heritage challenges, and design through mapping for the Tourist Centre of Pochampally, which has no historical interpretation and limited community involvement. It explores the heritage value of arts and crafts, and of vernacular architecture, and the place of community in this context. Documentation and observational notes of the representations of the infrastructure and activities supplied data about the current status of heritage interpretation as well as community involvement. Documentation consisted of interpretation tools and techniques, preparation of drawings of existing spaces related to exhibition, demo, and marketing for spatial analysis. Community aspect studies: equality, involvement, business levels, universities identification. The list also included the identification of audiences, consumers of the museum, and their role in the from-revitalization of the tourist centre. Utilizing insights from global around textile museums and case studies, this paper suggests measures to improve the visitor experiences, supporting local artisans and preserving Indian cultural heritage as well as a roadmap for sustainable development and community engagement in heritage tourism.
