Innovations in Nano-packaging for Nutrient Stability
摘要
Preserving the nutrient stability and improving the shelf life of food products necessitates nanotechnological advancements. In order to maintain the nutrient integrity and extend the shelf life, nanoparticles with antimicrobial activity like zinc and silver oxide, cellulose and lignin are incorporated into packaging films. In addition, barrier properties offered by nanocompositesNanocomposites and nano-laminates prevents the nutrient loss that occurs due to light, moisture and oxygen exposure. The reinforcement of oxygen scavengers in nanoscale dimension and other freshness indicators facilitates the real-time monitoring of nutrient stability and food quality that comes in an active and intelligent food packaging films. These biodegradable materials and edible films, not only preserve the food quality but also reduce the environmental impactImpact and carbon footprint. This chapter explorescutting edge nano-packaging innovations that offer substantial advantage for the food industry, including preservation of nutrients, shelf-life extension and environment friendly packaging solutions.
