This chapter argues that the notion of convivial tools can shift the focus of how artistic practices have intervened in the socio-technical networks of agri-food production in Latin America. To this end, it proposes to broaden the analytical and critical scope of STS research developed in the region by bringing into the debate two key dimensions at play in the concept of convivial tools, coined by Ivan Illich in the 1970s: the scaling down and commoning of technoscientific procedures. The significance of this move will be demonstrated by considering the recent work of two Mexican artistic collectives—Colectivo Amasijo and Cocina CoLaboratorio—that have responded to the complexities of the agri-food system in Mexico.

摘要
