Virtualization technology has been widely applied in current data centers, and the virtualization platform has almost become the standard configuration of the data center. In the engineering application of virtualization technology, there are two technical routes: container technology and traditional virtualization technology. This paper introduces several types of traditional virtualization and their characteristics in detail. At the same time, the article also introduces the characteristics of container technology in detail. This paper aims to make a comparative study of container technology and traditional virtualization technology, including their resource occupancy, startup speed, deployment time, operation efficiency, and so on. Through these comparisons, we can select appropriate technical solutions in different application scenarios.
