Is Slow Food Tourism a Thing?—An Exploratory Study
摘要
In essence the slow philosophy is a life philosophy whose followers have a sense of environmental responsibility and seek quality in touristic experiences or so it seems reading the existing literature. This paper addresses the following questions—is slow food tourism really a thing? Or is it just a somewhat empty concept with a fancy name? During the process of seeking answers to these questions, other related questions also emerged. This study follows an exploratory methodology relying on a semi-systematic literature review that the authors considered an ideal tool to determine the scope or coverage of a body of literature on slow food tourism. Key concepts/definitions and knowledge gaps were analysed, key characteristics were detected, and informed questionings were formulated. Essentially in this text one can find questions that as far as we know, were not yet made elsewhere and a look into questions that were already made by others. Fundamentally the questions raised resulted in what can be seen by many as a critique of several axioms present in literature. However, the authors also acknowledge that like the vast majority of exploratory studies, this one only brings new questions and insights, and hence no answers are really provided. This research contributes to substantiate discussion regarding theory use concerning slow food tourism, therefore, contributing for the discussion on this thematic. Further studies must be made to confirm or refute the legitimacy and reasonability of our questioning.
