This review describes the characterization techniques and constitutive models which are used to measure and capture the structural and mechanical behavior of skin. Skin is nonlinear elastic, viscoelastic, and anisotropic material, and these mechanical properties of skin are subject-specific. The measurement of skin’s mechanical properties differs among the experimental techniques [1]. One main cause of variability is the lack of standardization [2]. This chapter presents the mechanical and structural characterization methods that are widely used for skin research.

摘要

This review describes the characterization techniques and constitutive models which are used to measure and capture the structural and mechanical behavior of skin. Skin is nonlinear elastic, viscoelastic, and anisotropic material, and these mechanical properties of skin are subject-specific. The measurement of skin’s mechanical properties differs among the experimental techniques [1]. One main cause of variability is the lack of standardization [2]. This chapter presents the mechanical and structural characterization methods that are widely used for skin research.
