Simulation models in public health intervention research are essential for evidence-based public health. System dynamics models for chronic disease prevention deal with two categories of interventions: upstream intervention (lifestyle approach) and downstream intervention (clinical treatment). The prevention impacts simulation model (PRISM) was developed by employing both upstream and downstream interventions. PRISM is made available on the webpage, and simulation results by scenario in interventions such as smoking, diet, and physical activity are shown for local governments in the United States. Recently, an international initiative, Earth4All, has developed a global model to explore how to achieve well-being for all within planetary boundaries.
