A Wearable IoT E-Textile Based Smart Helmet for Head Injury Alert

Falls are a leading cause of injuries among children and the elderly, often resulting in severe outcomes. This study introduces a smart helmet system for real-time fall detection and injury prevention. Equipped with Force Sensing Resistors (FSRs), the helmet detects falls and assesses impact severity and direction. Integrated GSM and GPS modules enable automatic alerts with injury details and location to caregivers, ensuring timely intervention. The wearable e-textile design features advanced sensors to measure impact force, classifying injuries as low, high, or severe. When a fall occurs, the system transmits real-time alerts and location data to caregivers, reducing response time. This smart helmet is particularly beneficial for children and elderly individuals at heightened risk due to fragility or health conditions, significantly improving emergency response and survival rates through its integrated detection, tracking, and notification capabilities.
