Effective communication can be a significant challenge for individuals who are mute. However, sign language provides a means for them to express themselves. This research proposes a two-stage model that enhances communication by converting hand gestures into text, and subsequently into speech. The model integrates text-to-speech conversion, Bluetooth modules, flex sensors, and microcontroller-based boards to facilitate seamless communication. Practical evaluations demonstrate the model’s ability to accurately recognize various hand gestures and convert them into spoken language, thereby bridging the communication gap for mute individuals.

摘要

Effective communication can be a significant challenge for individuals who are mute. However, sign language provides a means for them to express themselves. This research proposes a two-stage model that enhances communication by converting hand gestures into text, and subsequently into speech. The model integrates text-to-speech conversion, Bluetooth modules, flex sensors, and microcontroller-based boards to facilitate seamless communication. Practical evaluations demonstrate the model’s ability to accurately recognize various hand gestures and convert them into spoken language, thereby bridging the communication gap for mute individuals.
