The efficiency of the manufacturing systems helps in reducing the greenhouse gases, material waste, human hours waste and eventually helps in maximum utilization of the available resources. So, the efforts need to be towards devising processes for minimum wastage as well as efficient and effective systems in the management of the waste. The chapter reviews the optimal policies for production system including quality inspection that can be classified as a green production system. It is supported by several numerical illustrations and sensitivity analysis. The chapter also reviews a multi-product multi-supplier multi-stage multi-period mixed-integer linear programming model considering technology effects and raw materials, semi-finished products, and end products waste in a supply chain minimizing cost elements, such as raw materials inspection waste, manufacturing waste, ordering, purchasing manufacturing technologies, transportation, production variable, production inventory holding, raw material inventory holding, etc. Scatter search algorithm, genetic algorithms and linear programming approach for minimizing multiple recycling, manufacturing/remanufacturing, and efficient distribution centers have also been discussed with regard to the industry sustainability.

摘要
