Design of a Micro-landmark Recognition and Intelligent Navigation System Based on Immersive Virtual Reality Technology

Immersive virtual reality (VR) technology has gained significant traction as an innovative medium for enhancing cultural experiences. Despite its promising potential, the integration of VR to promote urban and rural “micro-landmarks” remains underexplored, particularly in fostering a deeper connection to local heritage and identity. This paper addresses this gap by implementing VR-based solutions tailored to the “micro-landmark” cultural experience, highlighting both technical and user engagement challenges unique to this domain. We propose a VR-based method that enables immersive interaction with cultural assets, designed to be accessible across diverse urban and rural populations. Experiments reveal that this approach significantly improves user engagement and cultural affinity, as demonstrated by increased user interaction metrics and qualitative feedback. Our findings contribute to the advancement of VR applications in heritage preservation, suggesting pathways for future research in culturally adaptive virtual environments.
