Simple and Secure Reversible Watermarking for Medical Data in Wireless Sensor Networks

This study introduces a lightweight and secure reversible watermarking method tailored for protecting medical data in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), crucial in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) framework. The proposed technique efficiently embeds and extracts watermarks without altering the original data, ensuring data integrity and security while minimizing computational overhead. By employing the Tiny Encryption Algorithm (TEA) and SHA-256 hash function, the method provides robust tamper detection and secure data transmission in resource-constrained environments. Experimental results, using the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database, demonstrate the technique’s superior performance in processing time, memory usage, energy consumption, and security compared to existing methods, making it highly suitable for real-time telemedicine applications. This study significantly advances secure data transmission in healthcare technology, offering a practical solution for safeguarding sensitive medical information in WSNs.
