In the fast-growing landscape of cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes has established itself as a prominent platform for containerized application orchestrator; node autoscaling is among the most important things in ensuring optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency. This paper discusses Karpenter, an innovative and open-source node autoscaler deployed on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service, and its advantages over traditional Cluster Autoscaler, specifically in e-commerce applications on public cloud platforms. Empirically, by analytical and comparative studies, we will prove Karpenter as superior in the dimension of intelligence and cost efficiency. The ability to dynamically balance and recreate nodes (virtual machines) based on load demand is elaborated in this study, underlining its quick, intelligent, and cost-efficient provisioning features.
