As of 2022, Kampala, the capital of Uganda, had 1,738,000 residents. Because of the city’s thriving economy and 5.6% urbanization rate, the population doubles during the day. With a GDP of $2,655, Kampala is a city that is growing quickly and has many sustainability issues. Ensuring equitable services for a healthy population in a clean, livable, and sustainable environment is the responsibility of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), through its Directorate of Public Health Services and Environment. Water and sanitation services, solid waste management, landfill management, health inspection and education, and sanitation and environmental management are all part of KCCA’s core duties, which cover an all-encompassing approach to urban development. By addressing the changing needs of the city’s expanding population, these initiatives aim to keep Kampala a clean, healthy, and sustainable place for its citizens. KCCA strives to enhance the quality of life and promote sustainable development in the city’s growing urban landscape by placing a high priority on public health and environmental sustainability. The initiative is related to SDGs 1, 2, 3, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17.
