The Cultural H.ID.RA.N.T. project (Cultural Hidden IDentities ReAppear through Networks of Water, henceforth CH) is dedicated to activating local Hidden Heritage Potential and resources—both tangible and intangible, cultural and natural—to enhance Local Wellbeing. This innovative initiative has both local and inter-local outreach, using water as a medium to connect cultural heritage with urban revitalization. By reintroducing the Hadrian Aqueduct, an ancient Roman infrastructure, CH transcends the conventional “sightseeing” approach. It integrates this historic monument as a contemporary landmark, local memory, and underutilized water resource within the urban fabric of Chalandri. The project creates a paradigm shift by enhancing the cultural branding of Chalandri in contrast to the heritage focus of central Athens. CH promotes green urban policies and sustainable water management by regenerating four neighborhoods in Chalandri, transforming them into quality green public spaces. The Hadrian Aqueduct is repurposed for irrigation, replacing expensive and energy-consuming potable water. Through active community engagement, CH revitalizes Chalandri’s communities, strengthens the local economy, and fosters endogenous and resilient development. The initiative is related to SDGs 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 17.
