The most significant impact of green spaces in cities lies in their environmental functions and ecological efficiency, which enhance urban livability. A study conducted in Bostan Sufi, within Tehran’s Municipality Region 17, examined the effectiveness of several herbal essential oil formulations—derived from rosemary, peppermint, and eucalyptus—against the whitefly pest Aleuroclava jasmini. These natural solutions were compared to the chemical pesticide diazinon (Basodox 60%). Additionally, research was conducted on the use of the Caesalpinia gilliesii plant as a natural pest control method for urban pests such as the white-winged sparrow (Siphoninus phillyreae), black willow aphid (Chaitophorus niger Mordvilko), ornamental cabbage waxy aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae), rose bush aphid (Macrosiphum rosae), and marshmallow aphid (Aphis gossypii Glover). The scientific achievements of this research have been documented in five published articles. The outcomes of this project support the promotion of pruning plants within green spaces while encouraging domestic production through knowledge-based companies as an alternative to chemical pesticides. The plants utilized in this study include Arizona cypress, lavender, and rosemary, among others. This initiative aligns with Tehran’s municipal strategy and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing sustainable urban management and green space maintenance based on environmental sustainability principles. By adopting these organic solutions, Tehran is taking meaningful steps toward a cleaner and more ecologically responsible future. This initiative is related to SDGs 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, and 17.
