This paper seeks to explore existing digital technologies in the rice farming sector in developing countries to address the issues of food security. An integrative literature review has been used to retrieve literature from 2013–2023 to achieve the study's objective. Nine (9) primary studies were selected and reviewed for analysis on the impact of digital technologies in the rice farming sector. The study revealed key digital technologies that improve rice food security including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), mobile phones, Internet of things (IoTs), and Sensing technology. The study highlights challenges such as lack of digital technology skills and knowledge, finance, trust, illiteracy, policies, and network infrastructure associated with adoption in developing countries. Therefore, there is a need to provide an enabling environment to address these challenges to adopt digital technologies to transform the rice farming sector to improve rice food security in developing countries.
