摘要

Web services are technology-agnostic apps that enable device-to-device communication through the internet. eXtensible Markup Language (XML), which is established, is used by the devices to communicate information. An XML message can be sent to a web service through a client or user, who will subsequently receive an XML respond message. The XML format is used by several web services communication protocols, including Blocks Extensible Exchange Protocol (BEEP) and Web Services Flow Language (WSFL). Web services can be accessed using Representational State Transfer (REST) and Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP). Whereas REST is an assortment of design tenets for data transport, SOAP is a communications protocol; the two are not identical. This paper presents the results of testing data sizes of 1 KB, 2 KB, 4 KB, 8 KB, and 16 KB for both audio and video, with a focus on CRUD approaches. Programming extension points of a WCF REST web service in the Azure cloud captured the encryption and decryption timings in milliseconds/seconds.
