Currently, sustainable tourism and sustainable tourism development are the tourism development trends in many countries, including Vietnam. Rapid advances in digital technology have prompted travel and tourism organizations to adopt digital transformation to improve operational efficiency, achieve competitive advantage, and move towards long-term sustainable development goals. However, to successfully apply advanced digital technologies, many factors must be considered carefully. The study assesses the impact of increasing the use of digital platforms as a means to build sustainable development initiatives in Vietnamese tourism cities. The results of the study emphasize the necessity of integrating sustainability principles into the digital transformation process in tourism, which creates beneficial effects for the transformation process and provides practical guidelines for digital transformation to develop sustainable tourism destinations in Vietnam.
