Biorefinery Catalysts: Current Scenario and Future Developments
摘要
Excessive dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels has led to numerous economic, social, and environmental problems. These include resource scarcity and energy crises, significant emissions of environmental pollutants, global climate change, and unsustainable development. A biorefinery is a processing facility that uses biomass as a base to produce a variety of products. Examples of biomass that can be converted into profitable products include wood, straw, starch, sugars, waste or algae. These can be transformed into chemicals, biomaterials, energy, electricity, oils, food, feed, and much more. In this context, the present work aims to apply advanced bibliometrics to study catalyst applied to biorefinery. This study will address primary research using catalysts applied to biorefinery, the main countries/regions involved in production, areas of research related to the topic and future trends in these areas. The study observed cooperation between China, the USA, and India, with the Department of Aeronautics (USA) being the main institution to publish on the subject. Finally, it can be concluded that new catalysts offer significant opportunities to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and promote sustainability in biorefinery processes.
